Why? AFAIK this has been perfectly reasonable so far, if anything move it to LR but there are far more trivial topics already here in General and I think this is an interesting topic that affects us on many levels. -

The way people treat each other has changed a lot in Britain in the last 30 yrs. If PC means not using grossly pejorative terms or discriminating against others then fine.Originally posted by realityhackWhy? There is of course a support industry that has evolved in the media, academia and public sector. A lot of it is bollox and is often counter productive but it also benefrits the anti-PC industry as well (the Daily Mail would have to dig up something else to fill a few pages each day for example)
I have no problem with people getting ticked of at the useless cliched po-faced bilge (usually public sector) that sometimes comes to light but I suspect that some of the loudest protesters would think outlawing cross-burnings or giving women the vote was also PC gone mad.
For the record I do have a lesbian social-worker sister who works in Pol Correctness nirvana (East London borough) so I get to argue the toss on this quite a lot.Comment

I obviously tried for the humour point.Originally posted by realityhackIt was funny, that's all. Nothing personal Wendigo. Also a good point - though pedantic.

I think you'll find this is true of all people, regardless of the amount of melanin they have in their skin- which is the point really.Originally posted by ArdescoThe PC term that he should have been using was coloured....
Although it has to be said that coloured would probably be a better description for us white people.
We go Red when embarressed
We go Blue when we get cold
We go Brown after staying in the sun for a bit.
We go Red after staying in the sun for too long.
We go Purple/Yellow/Black/Brown when bruised.
We go an even paler shade of white when we feel sick.
let me know if I missed anything out.Comment

Title of thread is bad I'm afraid. It should read "Chronologically Challenged Chestnuts...". Please make the alteration swiftly."Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. "

I apologise Churchill, and RH. It's just that it reminded me of someone else who posted something similar when the subject was raised some months ago - on that occasion they meant it.Originally posted by ChurchillI obviously tried for the humour point.

It's much more obvious with us who have white skin though, and I haven't seen many sun burnt people of african origin (most likely due to the amount of melanin in thier skin)Originally posted by ClippyI think you'll find this is true of all people, regardless of the amount of melanin they have in their skin- which is the point really.Comment
