The book is describing Africans as 'savage natives' and said they looked "like monkeys and talk like imbeciles".

I think this is pretty cut and dry like!

Realistically how is this racist?

"Savage natives" could be used to describe people of any race/gender and it must be pointed out that there are some tribes in africa that could quite feasibly be called savage natives....
