It provides lovely fish for your belly, isn't that a useful service?"See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested." -
I once spent a whole six hours fly fishing. Didn't catch one bloody fly. Complete waste of a day.Originally posted by Moscow Mule..... Except fly fishing, now there's an art.Comment

And cruel? How do you know that the fish feel pain? Is it any crueller than say, horse racing?
It does induce pain in fish. They have nerves just like you and I. Horse racing from what I understand horses enjoy racing but dont enjoy having a hook stuck in their mouth.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

So that other people can then have the pleasure of catching them!!!
Not all fish are good for eating either due to their size or species, so no point in killing them for the sake of it....hence "sport"Comment

Who says?Originally posted by ArdescoBut... it's ok to eat fish because they don't have any feeling..Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

Banned?
If it was perceived as a sport solely for the gratification of the gentry, then I'm sure it would have been already...If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

Do they enjoy getting run ragged round a track with someone on their back and getting hit with that whip???
They may have nerves but do they feel pain? Some fish like mullet have large rubbery lips that have no nerves so hence do not feel pain....Comment

Not so much a big bang more a big splash.Originally posted by SysmanOne slight snag there. How do you avoid getting arrested when someone hears a big bang or two and alerts the security forces?
If they catch you doing it of the coast of Burma they execute you on the spot apparently - maybe this could be part of DA's scheme.*
* The execute thingy is based on something I read on the interweb so probably trueComment
