Nothing we have in place would stop anything, as is being demonstrated by the bungling wannabes we are hearing about in the news lately.

Which leads to the obvious conclusion that there is essentially NO terrorist threat. At the very least, our civil liberties are being eroded for no good reason.

We are being lied to. The threat is being exaggerated in order to further an agenda. I don't know what the agenda is, but isn't it painfully obvious today that if these wannabes can get headlines with what they are doing the 'hard core' or organised 'terrorist cells' we are apparently being protected from simply don't exist ? That is a little biased and twists the words of the koran.
It deliberately emphasises some parts whilst leaving out other bits which make it much more reasonable.

For instance: The Cow. 191. The bit about "kill them where you find them".
It certainly says that, BUT, the line before says "you must fight those who would fight you" to protect Islam and its lands. The line after says "stop fighting if they do".

I am no lover of Islam. As those who have been around a while will know, but this kind of spurious propaganda does nothing to enlighten people. It will only inspire the hard of thinking and in turn that will harden the inteligentsia against the argument.

I.e. Any person found guilty of involvement in terrorism or of helping to promote acts of terrorism, should be deported after completing their sentence.
Any person who is closely associated with them should be deported immediately the terrorist is found guilty.
This to include, all family, all close friends of the same ethnic background, all members of their mosque.

Exceptions would be those that informed on them before they could act.

Well, it depends who you're talking about:

Those who plan and commit terrorist attackes and those who harbour terrorists.

Or

Those who hapen to be related to them or friends / associates.

I think they should be locked up for 10 years. I also think that we should change the policies so that they know that if they get convicted, they will spend the next 10 years in jail, all of their assets will be siezed (house, cash, cars etc) and that their families will be deported instantly.

That will make them think. The will be happy to go to jail but to think that their families will be deported with no money etc will make them reconsider.
