Right-wing over-reaction again methinks?
IIRC there was some stirring up about this months ago when provisional planning permission was granted to build the mosque on the site of the current one which is a disused warehouse or similar. The Evening Standard (not exactly known for their love of Red ken) did a very ambiguous feature on it which implied that taxpayers money would be used to build it but never actually said it. Looking for the original link now........Comment

There you go, that was the original article. Nowhere in it does it say that the mosque will be built using public funds. It says the group who approve the plans are funded by public funds though!
Incidentally, the proposed size of it has now been vastly reduced following consultation with the local community.......

Does anybody take these online petition things seriously? All the ones I see seem to be knee-jerk reactions to unsubstantiated rumours but for those who sign them and let the govt know where all the sheep are for fleecing in future..........Comment

I did not like the wording either but signed last week. There should be no more damn mosques until Muslims start showing the same tolerance to Christians and others in Muslim countries as they demand from us.bloggoth
