I'd be tempted by 60K, but I doubt anybody would offer me that. I was offered a permie job by my first client, and the words the MD used were "it depends what lifestyle you're looking for", which says it all really.

I'd be much more tempted to work for a lot less if I got to be a director and shareholder of a small company.

I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?

Project, programme, change management. Whatever term is flavour of the month at the time.

                    it wouldnt work.
give a guy a spade and tell him to dig a field over - it'll take him a day
stand behind him with a whip - he'll do it in 3/4 a day
crack the whip - he'll do it in half a day
whip him and he'll do it in 1/3 of a day

give a guy a sheet full of numbers and tell him to add them up in his head
                    - he'll do it in an hour
stand behind him with a whip - it'll take two hours
crack the whip - three hour
whip him - it'll never get done

its just not worth while trying to put pressure on some types of worker - developers have to get their drive from inside
