I would suggest the Volvo xc70 or Audi Allroad are more appropriate as for me these Subaru's are kind of cheap japanese, don't have the pedigree of the european offerings, don't keep europeans employed and present an image of cheap tat - granted it's not quite korean, but it's not a lexus either - I would imagine if MF's shop sold cars they would be subaru's

    Milan.

I would very much disagree with you there milan. Subarus have a very long history with the farming community. They began with their small pickups and have established a reputation for being very reliable and discreet. Their four wheel drives were available long before the audi and volvo so their main competitors were discoveries and landrovers (unreliable and impractical). The farming communities are indeed very much into their audi/volvo estates but the Subaru is right up there.

Caught you! What have 4x4 ot to do with PC? I thought we'd ironed out the PC bogeyman.

What a feckin snob you are, farmers up and down the land have been using Subaru's for years, now I think they know about off roaders more than your average punter, and FYI Jap cars trounce the euro equivalents in terms of reliability year on year and as for a Lexus? Everyone just thinks you couldn’t afford the Merc (equally poncy snob mobile).

            where shall I start,

no I am not a snob I drive a 4x4 skoda tdi 6 years old

my point is DA, and I grant you, you are indeed correct,

'Subarus have a very long history with the farming community. ',

and your knowledge of the history of the subaru products in the uk is accurate

            however,

you are NOT a farmer, and you will not be going to the cattle market once a week in your outback and you are not buying an outback because landrovers and discovery's are too expensive and unreliable

you are a recruitment agent, incase you forgot, and therefore yes the subaru has the qualities you are interested in, but no you're not a farmer and you need something a little less agricultural and a little more presentable like the Volvo or the Audi

            kapeeesh ?

how can I put it better,

the subaru is well worn hunter wellies and a barber jacket,

the audi and the volvo are the sharp suit and big city employment

                    Current : Saab 9-3 1.9 TiD Sport. ( yes, another one. )

Dream : Aston Martin convertable for weekdays, Ariel Atom for weekends / track days.

Bought the Saab cos it's BMW 3 Series performance and quality without the BMW price tag. And yes, it's based on the Vectra but the only thing the diesel version shares with it these days is the chassis and running gear, which are pretty damn good anyway.

is the 9-5 available as a diesel and if so is it any good?
