A while back I found myself in crawling traffic due to a race event, looked up and saw there was rail barrier on a line with the middle of my bonnet, traffic ahead and behind and nowhere to go. Scary. So pissed off with the traffic I hadn't noticed the sodding level crossing.

As I read it (and it's pretty clear that some of the people commenting here have not read it), she did not drive along the railway track, she was not in the car when it was hit, and neither the Satnav nor her reading of it took her wrongly on to the railway tracks.
All that happened was that crossed a manual level crossing in an unsuitably slow manner, one gate at a time, stopping the car between gates. Nothing to do with Satnav or with driving where she shouldn't have.God made men. Sam Colt made them equal.Comment

What has this got to do with Sat Nav?
She should be charged for endangering the passengers on the train.
One assumes that the "green light" mentioned on the gate was not onI am not qualified to give the above advice!

What I find telling is: not only is she stupid enough to have done this.
But no, she's so stupid, she thinks people will accept that it was the sat nav's fault.

I used to work for Network Rail as a track worker (yes I was the one working - that's why I'm in IT now).
There was a manual crossing we had to maintained and it stated clearly on both sides of the crossing, get permission from signaller before crossing.
The gang I was in was on the far side of the crossing doing a hot weather watch on newly laid track. We watched in amazement as this young bint simply opened the far gate, drove onto the crossing then closed the one behind her. Opened the one in front then drove through.
Whilst this was happening, one of my colleagues was onto the signaller to stop all trains. This person was then prosecuted for trespassing on the railway. She was also sued for the cost of the hold up.
For those of you that don't know, this is the correct sequence, whether you are horse riding or driving.
- At the gate stop
- Contact the signaller
- If you don't get the all clear, wait until you do so.
- Open the gate on your side.
- Walk across the line, quickly but do not run, and open the gate the far side.
- Go back to your vehicle/horse and cross quickly
- Park up and go and close the first gate
- Cross back and close the second gate
- Contact the signaller to give the all-clear

I was S&T. Used to get daft bints like this all the time. Usually called the fire brigade to collect the pieces.Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.
