I am on your side love , I just make a deliberate effort to avoid scrutiny.

How to get cheap accom in london ? Get a base for a week in a cheap hotel. Then I go around all the supermarkets I can find looking for the ads pinned up on the notice boards. Its usually possible to find an old dear who lets out her sons room now that hes flown the nest. My current place is £65 per week, in West London.
When I finish I will buy her a big bunch of flowers and a box of chocs and next time I am in London I will get in touch to see if she is free.

I have three good spots in London, one in Montrose, one in Edinburgh and one in Milton Keynes.

Its a sh1t life having to share your bathroom with others but when the gig is over and the dust settles, I have the dosh in my pocket

I think Eternal is just demonstrating the 'keep yourself under the radar approach'. It may or may not work but I try to practice it and have avoided attention so far. If you limit the target for the HMRC then they'll hopefully pick on someone else who's annual accounts stand out a bit. SA may have been purely unlucky but I think the 28K expenses may have stood out if some HMRC bod was asked to look through a pile of annual accounts with a view to picking on someone !?

I had a good set of cheap 'digs' darn sarf with two oldies until I stumbled in pissed one night and managed to spread a lot of mud all over their house. The old bloke lost it, the old dear tried defending me, I settled my bill and ambled off sheepishly never to return !

Good trick! I do a similar thing but I look on sites like gumtree where people are more aware of the value of what they're offering. Might nick that one next time circumstances warrant it!

My feelings, too. Spend less = work less.

I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?

                IR35 insurance

Just to answer an earlier query on Caunce legal expenses insurance. It also offers £50,000 of legal representation to defend you against any tax investigation including those on IR35, S660A & PAYE audit, corporation tax full and aspect enquiries (same as Qdos) but also offers Jury service cover in with the cost: £75 through main site CUK http://www.contractoruk.com/insuranc..._expenses.html or £60 if you join Contractor Alliance (for £25 entitling you to 20% off PI & liabs as well).

So this is how that differs from Qdos (just tax protection for £99):

                1) Jury service. The policy will pay your wages for the time that you need to take off work to attend any arbitration, court and tribunal hearings.

                2) Legal costs for defence and appeals in respect of criminal proceedings for both you and your employees, and limited cover for civil proceedings and employees.

                3) Provides legal costs and expenses for representation and defence proceedings brought under the Data Protection Act.

                4) Provides legal costs and expenses in defending actions brought by employees and ex-employees under employment legislation

I believe the higher priced Qdos insurance mentioned is their TLC35 product which is a different product, with additional features but prices range from £325 to £650.

Always remember to check all insurances out, or else....

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think
