Yes, going back again for 3 weeks soon. At least this time it won't be -17 with 3 feet of snow all the time. Still the eye candy in the bar is nice. And expensive by the hour no doubt.

That and a very dubious practice in Service Management...

Hey - AtW, you manage sentences for everyone else

Or is it because I'm fluent in helmies?

        http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/interest-late.htm

I think it will fall in one of these categories, I've seen a compounded interest rate list somewhere, sure it was on an HMRC site !?

I think it's worth trying to put up some sort of fight as it's a possible opening for further HMRC interest. I would get serious with your accountant and get them to provide some help even if it means paying an hourly charge to them. All the acountants I know of would provide this service including going to any HMRC meetings. Did they advise you to claim for a rental property ? The two experienced accountants who I've dealt with always said renting was a no no and to be avoided.

There seems to have been a lot of people in this thread who have been investigated!! And this is just a small sample of CUK posters.

          I'll call my lawyer now

How long has this investigation been going on now and has anything changed in IR's stance?

Do you happen to know how much the interest is? I cant seem to find that figure off anynoe.
                Currently 7.5%. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/interest-late.htm.

You can find some details of deposits here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/howtopay/cert_tax_deposit.htm

[How I recall these work is that in the event of the liablity being established the dues date is "now" and the deposit is backdated to that date. If the liability is not established then you can withdraw it for cash plus some interest].

Good luck on it and keep us all up to date.

If they're saying you were a permie then are they going to refund the employers national insurance you've paid. Plus you'll be getting the pension contributions and holidays etc. They can't have it both ways....can they?

??? The terms of most insurances normally covers you for investigation that begins during the period you are insured, the year you actually did the work is not relevant. As long as you did know or reasonably should have known before you took out the insurance.

You sure have expensive tastes, apart from a couple of very short term contracts I have never earned more than £350 a day and still manage to come out with a fair bit. Tatty old bedsits and a banger.
