He spoke to his HR Dept yesterday on how to tackle this, and he’s been told in no uncertain terms to drop the matter.

The only reason he can think why, is because she’s Black.

Fear of misuse of the racism card is real, but misuse doesn't happen very often.

Your mate is probably jumping to conclusions. As some other posters have said, it could be any of several reasons that your mate doesn't know about. She might be recovering from illness, or on the other hand shagging the head of HR!

I had to give evidence a couple of months ago in a hire profile case was in all the nationals http://www.personneltoday.com/Articl...imination.html when 3 members of an old team I worked for as a permy claimed race discrimation, not against me but it was claimed that I had witnessed an event.

The chap I had to give evidence on was chinese and claimed he didnt get promoted because of that. It was total ball sh*t, he didnt get promotion because 1 there were not jobs to be promoted to and 2 he was sh*t not a matter of race. In the end the courts found in his favour I couldnt believe it, it was so wrong, this guy was even asking me to get him a job when I left (but before he brought the case) it was only the sniff of ££ they made him bring it he got a 6 figure sum apperently.

Its people like these who try it on that ruin it for other people who have a geniune claim. I trust no one now and wont make comments at all to any one colleauge that has any reference to there nationality even if is just generally conversation, people turn and alot see the race card as quick buck.
