It's hardly enough to warrant such an outburst!

Corp tax is based on your profits, so you clearly have enough to pay it! And if you were a permie and paying tax "the proper way" you'd have to pay WAY more tax before you earned as much!

We get away with murder, and you all know it. So stop ya fricken whinging.

, a practise if left unaddressed would
cost the rest of the taxpaying population billions of pounds.
Can anyone tell me how one can work as a contractor without forming a Ltd Co? Is an umbrella really Brown's approved method? Or are we supposed to press clients to give us a contract of employment?

Yes. On the PAYE payroll of an agency. After all, you are just a temp employee. Pay up. It's only "fair"

            "income tax down ??!?!?!?"

            But no more 10p bracket.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

              . And I
will take action in a way that will not raise the tax burden on the
self employed and small businesses overall.

And more people work in the SME sector than for big business.

I would guess that to absorb the increase in CT, "legitimate" businesses will need to increases their prices to cover this additional overhead - so come next contract review - up your rate !
