IR35 - yes, its a good thing. We should definately be getting the richer people to start paying the taxes they should be.
More jobs, better standard of living for all, hospital waiting lists cut, more school places, etc etc etc

It's interesting that you don't believe the media on the war - yet you believe the media/government spin that says waiting lists cut, more school places etc

No I dont. Freaky, you act like you're a right know all, but I'd wager you've never actualy lived outside of your southern "comfort bubble". You haven't got a fecking clue what people are like "up north", so your "yes, thats sadly true" comments hold absolutely no fricken weight what so ever.

No, I see the stats on that, but more importantly I SEE that with my own eyes. I saw my mam have a heart attack 18 months ago, and have a string of medical ailments ever since, and be dealt with quickly and effectively time and time again.
The same for my dad with Angina 4 years ago.
The same for my friends and other family members too.
And I dont have kids, but all my mates do, and I listen to them when they talk.

I've got mates on benefits, who are genuinely helped out.
My best mate (single mother) has gone from benefits, to part time working, to full time working (the way the government intends, through all their schemes) all smoothly and encouraged and supported the whole way.

I base my "the country has improved" argument on the people around me. The people in my family, my mates, their families, the people who drink in my boozer, the people I work with, the people I see on the news/chat shows, and THEN what I read in the papers and watch on the BBC.

I have a brain, and I use it, and get slightly annoyed when people assume I haven't because I'm from the north, or cause I still support labour.

Freaky may not know what it is like up North, but I certainly do.
You may not follow the mantra SA, but I can state categorically that lots of people do.
I don't much fancy the Tories myself, but the thought of another 5 years of Labour make me wake up screaming in the night.

Hmmmm......lived in Glasgow in 1997, spent 14 months in Manchester in 1999/2000 and 6 months in Leeds in 2004.

How much was the wager? although you'll have to come down here to pay up, as I clearly wouldn't know how to speak with the common folk "up north".

How about those taking minimum wage while earning £500 a day and being investigated for spurious/ extravagant expenses claims?
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Apart from the pension funds being stolen, Iraq invaded on false pretenses which has significantly decreased safety in our own country, the desire to hand over control to Brussels, (admittedly there was a steady drip of power under the Tories, but Tony wants to just hand the country over as soon as possible), crime through the roof, billions of pounds pumped into projects just to line the pockets of businesses who support labour, the really terrifying thing is the way the state wants us tagged, bagged, and tracked everywhere we go. I have nothing to hide, but this lot frighten the life out of me.
I could go on, but you know all this.

To this I would like to add, shoving this country into an Orwellian police state, hijacking the climate change agenda purely to generate extra tax revenue, adopting a 'low-hanging fruit' mentality to the meaty issues of infrastructure, health, public safety, having the nerve to relabel the tax-paying electorate 'customers' (to make us feel like we are somehow empowered), abject failure to intervene in key areas of the legal system, cash for honours, Lord Goldsmith used like a puppet. But most of all, hijacking the security agenda to place restrictions on the freedoms of the law-abiding majority.

As to the question on this thread. Gordo: "Well, that's the speech finished, you can show me to the gallows now".
                    "My God, it's huge!!"

Taxes on everything - never really noticed. and if you're taking about cars, dont have one.
Uncontrollable immigration - the only reason we have figures of immigration now is down to Labour. We simply didn't know how many immigrants we had before.

That must onlu be in the north then or more a reflection of your local council. I was born and bred up North and lived in London now for the last 10 years.

Here are some changes I noticed in my 10 years in London,

                      1. I tend to be the only white man on my tube carriage most days, Im not racest but it reflects on the immigration policy.

                      2. My council tax is £2100 a year for a joe blogs average 3 bedroom semi, gone up 5% most years, and its a labour council.

                      3. I cant get an NHS dentist.

                      4. I can never get an appointment to see my doctors.

                      5. Prices and taxes are now so high you are constantly needing to earn more.

                      6. I fear for my contract security as NL are making some stupied tax demands that I have no choice but to up my rate and risk loosing my client to India.

                      7. I feel far from safe and risk most days on my journey into work which is an1 hr each way tube journey. For f*cks sake I had to make sure my life insurance would cover me for death by terrisum !

I dont want to here the crap about 'well you have a choice you dont have to live in London', some people dont have a choice for family reasons etc.

On the flip side I also dont like Cameron, but NL cant go on.
