Britain to cut Carbon emissions by 60%

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6444145.stm

Britain could become the first country to set legally binding carbon reduction targets under plans unveiled by Environment Secretary David Miliband.
The draft Climate Change Bill calls for an independent panel to set ministers a "carbon budget" every five years, in a bid to cut emissions by 60% by 2050.

If they miss the figure, future governments could be taken to court.

Well that's it then. Everything in Britain is going to cost a fortune. Housing, transport, industry, everything will be taxed until it almost ceases to exist.

The last time Britain had CO2 emissions that low was in Queen Victoria's reign.

See you in the poor house.

PS. That Miliband is one slimey creepy odd ball spin doctor. Is he out of the Adams Family?

You can pay for it then.

      Why not cut by 100%?

      Madness.

"You can pay for it then."
We all will. However the cost of doing something is less than doing nothing.

        "Why not cut by 100%?"
        Because that is silly.

        "Madness."
        No it's not.

When your cost of living triples and your job goes East where there is no such tax on energy, we'll see if you feel the same way.

Britain produces 2% of the worlds C02. What a price to pay when India, USA, China and others watch the UK go 3rd world.

Saw some programme last night about what you would need to do to cut your household carbon emissions by 60%.

            No car
            No flying
No (none, nada) electrical appliances of any sort whatsoever
            No household heating

            And that just scraped 60%.

Like I said, the last time the UK had emissions that low, Queen Victoria wa so on the thrown, and the people had no car, no flying, no electrical appliances and no heating.

              Enjoy.

With this government's record, imagine what a crock of tulipe that will be!

In my crystal ball I see hundreds of thousands of Deemed Emission Inspectors, Home Energy Watch Police, Personal Travel Allowance Assessors .... etc etc

What's the betting all your journeys will have to go on your Personal Assesment Tax Form?
