Here we go again. “But this time it’s/I am different”. As much as these guys pretend to be brokers for our skills (even though it doesn’t apply to me anymore), they are agents. The definition of an agent is one that acts or represents another. In this case the ‘other’ or principal is the client or consumer of our skills. They are not acting as agents for the skilled person i.e. us. This is a relationship that is misunderstood by far too many people.
I never had much of an issue on the agent’s margin on the initial contract. However, I do have issue with the same margin being applied to extensions. They should have covered their costs and made a profit on the initial period. Extensions are extra and the ‘spoils’ should be shared.
do you think the clients get pissed off with over paid contractors who constantly try and get the highest rate they can?
Business is business and I'd be worried about any agent not trying to maximise their profits, i don't want them going bust mid contract or trying to delay my payments cause they haven't got the cash reserves to pay me whilst they wait for the end client to pay their own invoices.

Probably.
The squint, the cocked eye and clenched first are the cornerstones of all Merseyside communication from birth to grave

Greed is called a selfish desire to obtain money, wealth, food, material possessions or any other entity more than one legitimately needs.

When an extension comes round it is a time to reward the contractor by trying to get his rate up.

You are obviously a s*** agent. With that attitude you should be working in the public sector. If you were any good you would not be on this board but would instead be hitting the phones.
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone
