The last ice age has not finished yet! Given that an Ice Age is defined as ice being at the poles. -
Doesn't splitting H2O need electrolysis? Where does the energy come from for that? Oh I know - giant power stations running off hydrogen power!Originally posted by BigPhillWe all know that something needs to be done but as yet noone has come up with a way to run cars and power stations on Hydrogen that can be cheaply produced ie by splitting H2O molecule cheaply.

Yawn....
1. There is nothing you can do about it, except bore the b0llocks off everyone with tales of 'carbon blanacing'. Climate has always changed/will always change.
2. IF it's caused by carbon fuels - THESE ARE RUNNING OUT. 50 years/100 years is irrelevant, a blink of an eye in the history of the world. When they run out/become scarce, energy production will be via essentially carbon neutral methods - renewable, bio-fuel, fission/fusion etc. Earth will adjust as always.
3. What about the cost in terms of human life ? There are over 6bn people - artificially supported on a planet capable of sustaining maybe 1/3 of that number comfortably. Each day approx 350k are born - 150k die. Until these numbers are equal or more die than are born - earth is in trouble - end of.
4. Life is too short to kid yourself you can 'make a difference' to the planet, make the best you can during what is a short time alive and shuffle off after producing a lifetimes CO2. All this hand wringing, 'social conscious', middle class guilt for being alive is getting right on my t1ts.Comment

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

After all, it will take hundreds of years of bad effects of global warming to approximate to the damage done to my family by ten years of Blair/Brown/Primarolo.
Why the avatar? Well anyone accused of plotting against Gordon Brown can't be all bad.Comment

After watching last night's programme on ch4 I am totally convinced that global warming is a big swindle by governments and treehuggers. The graph of solar activity v temp matches perfectly while co2 v temp does not match. Now time to roll back green taxes.Comment

I don't know enough to say either way but to suggest the 'eco mentalists' are just a bunch off neo marxists with nothing better to do than stifle the developing world and that eco journalists were just trying to safeguard their jobs was a bit OTT if you ask me, there must be more to it... or not?Science isn't about why, it's about why not.
