HSBC has been fined £57.4m by the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority for “serious failings” over customer deposit protection – the second highest penalty ever imposed by the financial watchdog.

They have plenty of form. I remember working with them and they told me about the bad stuff that got the Deferred Prosecution Act on them, like letting the Mexican Drug Cartels measuring the teller window space so they could launder the maximum amount of greenbacks.
