    I want danger money!

Why are all road users so bad at driving. Yesterday was driving a wagon that is 8ft + wide, 16ft high and 50ft long. Not a small vehicle, something that you could easily miss like a motorcyclist. So there I am sitting at a junction with the right hand indicator on. Odds are that means I am planning on turning right!

Started to turn and some dopey cow in the a 4x4 ran into the side of the trailer as I turned.

"But you were in the left lane...so I thought you were going left".

Its 50ft ******* long! No exactly a mini is it! It needs time to turn which means sometimes using the left lane so pedestrians don't dont get run over when I mount the pavement.

Dealing with the muppets that inhabit the UK roads I want more than the £150 a day I am getting. |Still a ray of hope today and now have a start date of monday for my next contract (proper contract, not this driving tulipe I use as a filler). Will beat getting out of bed for shift start at 2am as well.

I am firmly of the opinion there are a number of drivers, like dopey cow, who are just sociopaths. They really cannot see things from anothers viewpoint. From this opinion I extend the idea that there should be a psychological testing element to the driving test.

dopey cow <-- absolutely zero sympathy for that kind of driver, and if TPTB really wanted to do something about congestion they ought to make people like this sit a retest 'cause they obviously do not know how to drive and are the cause of nearly all the traffic jams in the first place!
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

Sorry to argue fellas, but it is Socky who is in the wrong. He is not allowed to turn right from the left lane, even if he is indicating.

He should either find an alternative route to avoid this turn or use a number of smaller vans.

Just because it is common practice does not make it right.
If you are going to make a manouver like this then it is up to you to make sure it is safe to make it. Clearly it was not or you would not have caused this collision.

So many truckers who think they have the right to drive like a twat.

Trade your driving licence in for a bus pass and leave delivery to the pros.

          You should've straddled both lanes.

Is there any basis in law for that?

Just checked this out - http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/20.htm#196

196: Large vehicles. These may need extra road space to turn or to deal with a hazard that you are not able to see. If you are following a large vehicle, such as a bus or articulated lorry, be prepared to stop and wait if it needs room or time to turn.

                  Long vehicles need extra room
Though it doe only show a left turn.

As you were chaps. Sorry Socky. She (and I) is a ****wit.

The Highway Code in my day made mention of road users should be 'aware' of long vehicles making right turns from the left lane or left turns from the right turn.

But like lane procedures at round-abouts I suspect most road users don't have the knowledge... also it might help that I took my Class 1 test years ago...HTH
