Can't wait for the 5% council tax increase and see how much less they can achieve with this.

Yes, they are “socialising” their losses onto taxpayers

So no CGT rate going up?
Divi tax not up other than keeping Rishi’s increase?

Rates are not changing, but the allowance is reducing.

The tax free allowance for capital gains will reduce in 2023-24 from £12,300 to £6,000 and again to £3,000 in 2024-25.

In what way is this a good budget? By freezing the tax bands, whilst inflation rips, and any pay rises end up as more tax taken, whilst council tax surges, many people will be far worse off.
                • Income tax thresholds frozen
                • Inheritance tax threshold frozen
                • Stamp duty higher thresholds to end
                • Capital gains tax, tax free allowances slashed
                • Rent rises capped at 7%
                • Council tax rises
                • Increased energy costs next year

                    Council tax next year

As it stands, local authorities cannot raise council tax above 2.99%, plus a 1% levy for social care without a local referendum.

Hunt has allowed councils to increase council tax by 5% without a referendum. This money will go to local authorities, reducing the risk of councils needing to be bailed out.

Unless of course they're a Labour led council in which case as history shows, you're fcked!
