And Rish! in the lead with his nominations.

      R!sh! Sunak 99
      Boris Johnson 51
      Penny Mordaunt 22

      With 218 undeclared

I'm hearing unconfirmed reports this morning that R!sh! has 100.

Nope The Torygraph has confirmed it R!sh! has reached 100.

      https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics...on-leadership/

R!shi Sunak became the first Tory leadership candidate to secure the backing of 100 MPs on Friday night as Boris Johnson’s supporters began warning of a stitch-up.
The former chancellor reached the threshold around 10pm, according to a campaign source, meaning he will be on the ballot for Monday’s vote. His team now wants the endorsement of a majority of Tory MPs.

Perhaps his team should just shut up and let the MPs make their own minds up. I'm not sure gaming the system is in anyone's best interests.

You all realise that as soon as Rishi is PM, the stalled Indian trade deal will be signed, allowing free movement of people from India to UK to fill all the "skills shortages" in IT etc?

          https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/94810451.cms

The deal, when clinched, would be India’s biggest and most ambitious free trade agreement. New Delhi is also seeking to claw back half a billion pounds in payments made by Indian workers toward Britain’s social security system as part of the deal, people familiar with the matter said. Further, UK’s offer to restrict movement of skilled workers would skew the proposed trade deal in favor of Britain and wouldn’t be a win-win for both nations, the people said.

The public count is a bit behind the curve. This one, which includes whips and officers of '22 that cannot express a public view, is likely quite reliable:

Looks doubtful whether Boris will make it - at least not very convincingly - as his count hasn't changed that much over the last day, plus a lot of his erstwhile allies have come out against another Boris premiership (David Frost, Charles Moore etc.)

Maybe. Nobody has had a chance to ask Boris about his plans yet, Perhaps they are merely waiting to see how outrageous they actually are before deciding.

If I were a Tory MP, I'd be thinking seriously about the Committee of Privileges and the clownshow that is almost certain to follow, with Boris quite likely booted out of Parliament before Christmas and yet another leadership contest (or, at the very least, a continuous stream of terrible headlines and zero party discipline), by which time Rish! will have even less credibility in taking over. I can't stand Sunak, but he probably is their best bet at this point (for managed decline between now and the next GE, instead of explosive decline ).
