Especially if they have pets. I was at Calais a few weeks ago and there were quite a few very disgruntled Ukrainians that had crossed God knows how many frontiers with their pets only to have them refused entry into the UK.

And, as it happens, they wouldn't let my dog in either as the German vet I had used to administer the prerequisite worming pill had recorded it in the wrong place on the labyrinthine form provided courtesy of DEFRA. The whole thing with travelling with pets is a minefield at the moment.

No kids, or is that what you meant by the last?

I am, but if my life is genuinely at risk to the point I am forced to flee with what I can carry on my back, priorities change. If I have to choose drinking water or Mr. Tiddles, that's not a hard choice really. You'd bring them if you could but be prepared to leave them.

I've not checked but I wouldn't be surprised if Russian troops were known to do horrible things to animals. Otherwise why would you flee with a cat? Cats can take care of themselves as they have no bloody loyalty.

So you're an animal lover who hates cats?

Nah I like lots of cats and some act like they don't mind me.
