If the sign says 20 on it, and you can read the 20 on it, then clearly unless you are too thick to realise that means 20mph speed limit (in which case you shouldn't be driving) and you exceed 20mph then you are speeding and should get fined. This is pure common sense and I applaud the judge in this case.
The amount of money to be collected is irrelevant. If these drivers had stayed within the limit then they wouldn't be being fined. It's as simple as that.Comment

Or should I just respond to official ones?
If it is the later then the official signs must conform to a standard or else I will not recognise them.I am not qualified to give the above advice!

The Alex Ferguson driving on the hard shoulder technicality get out of tulip clause still bugs me, can't remember the details but it was a pathetic excuse that the magistrate accepted. Does anybody know how the celebrity lawyer who Fergie used has got on since he was arrested for dodginess regarding another technicality case !?Comment

Originally posted by Cowboy BobThen you will pay the fine and I will have no sympathy. I've seen the signs on Tower Bridge and it's fairly obvious what they mean. Common sense is required on both sides and motorists trying to take the p!ss and then complaining about it because they think they know best are just idiots.
It is the council taking the piss. The law is quite clear. It doesn't say the signs have to kind of look like it stipulates exactly what they should look like.
This could open a free for all, or cause chaos with money grabbing councils sticking up not quite right signs and putting speed guns behind them.I am not qualified to give the above advice!
