    Protest - Squat A Mansion

Currently listening to the report on this.

There are 6 police vans outside.

The police are just watching the protestors with their hands in their pockets.

The £25million mansion of a Russian billionaire has been taken over by protesters in London's Belgravia, with the Ukrainian flag hung from the windows over Putin's invasion.

Police were called to the property in Belgrave Square in the early hours of Monday morning and found a number of people had gained entry to the building.

Ukrainian flags have been hung from the upstairs windows and a banner reading, 'The property has been liberated' and 'Putin go f*** yourself'.

The oligarch in question is reportedly Oleg Deripaska and the property is believed to be worth £25million.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: "Police were called shortly after 01:00hrs on Monday, 14 March to a residential property in Belgrave Square, SW1.

"Officers attended and found that a number of people had gained entry and hung banners from upstairs windows. Officers remain at the location."

Apparently the mansion is empty with no heating or hot water.

          Doesn't sound comfortable.

I thought squatting was a criminal offence now?
Police should evict them - and give them each a bath and a scrub.

They have only been there for less than a day, though pulling them out and giving them a cold shower tomorrow is probably on the cards.

I don't condone this sort of squatting behavior - in addition to being illegal it could result in extensive internal damage to this dwelling, most certainly bought with ill gotten gains, thus reducing the sale proceeds that will be used as compensation to Ukraine.

The police are now in the property. I think it is the riot police.

They tried to use a ladder to get on the balcony but the protesters kept pushing the ladder back.

So they drilled the lock to get in.

Nice, thought squatters had rights and it was a "civil matter"? I guess not when it comes to really wealthy owners...
