At present, I am still going to Portugal in July.

Many arrangments have been rejigged and research into who will give us a same day turnaround on test to release done.

We'll be well practised for the Spain holiday at the beginning of August

There's always hope that at the next review in three weeks' time that they go green again. Plans will be scuppered if they go red. We have agreed we will have to cancel then.

Given up on abroad this year, will be using the motorhome instead. Madeira has been rebooked for the same time next year, by which time we should have a clearer idea of what we can and can't do. I was not impressed reading Portugal's response either - they have had a spike but only in Lisbon and it's flattening out already. Nothing to do with some pathetic football match of course...

Being driven by scientists is all well and good, but the scientists need to get their heads out of their arses on occasion.

Scientists and experts give their reports it is up to the government to make policy and decisions....

That is a very naïve view of the reality.

If UK was still part of EU you’d most likely have your holiday (assuming you got vaxxinated here), that’s the connection with Brexit you voted for.

No I wouldn't. (FWIW Portugal still let you in with double vaccination certification, which we both have. It's the ban on travel from the UK that invalidated our insurances that was the nail in the coffin. We could have just about coped with the 10 day isolation and the 2x3 Covid tests we would have had to pay for).

But as I said, if the EU had followed the UK model, instead of actively campaigning against vaccination. this particular exercise would be redundant by now.

But the French position is wrong anyway. Vaccination stops you getting ill, it doesn't stop you passing the virus on.

UK would not be doing such one sided bans if it was still part of EU.

Enjoy your holiday stay in Wales, great weather to enjoy it

P.S. Vaccines also prevent spread of virus - 85% for Pfizer/Moderna

You can still buy specialist insurances that cover you for countries that HMG (FCDO) advise against going to. I haven't bothered as I see the risk as very low but if you have things that you really need covered and cannot take a risk of travelling without insurance then staying at home is your only option.

Yes you can, but the cost for a blue badge holder is ridiculous... even if they accept the risk.

So you knew that professionals who bet their money on odds of things happening (or not) rate risk as "ridiculous" or "even if they accept it", yet you've went ahead with booking?
