Good news from the Govt: all villages will be connected with fiber within 1000 days!

    In India

"Indian prime minister Narendra Modi has marked the nation’s Independence Day by pledging to connect all of India’s villages to optic fibre within 1,000 days.

In his speech to the nation, Modi said than in 2014 just five dozen villages enjoyed optic fibre connections, but in the five years since another 150,000 have been connected.

Now he wants all villages connected inside three years."

India to run optic fibre to 450,000 villages in 1,000 days and give 1.3bn a digital Health ID • The Register

FFS - me bedsit over a kebab shop got EOL (Exchange Only Line) so no "fiber" speeds still despite being in the busy city

    Takeaways

India has just 4% of the world's fresh water, but 16% of the global population.
Half of India's water supply in rural areas is routinely contaminated with toxic bacteria.
Every year, about 600,000 Indian children die of illnesses associated with unclean drinking water.
Lack of clean water is hurting India’s manufacturing sector, resulting in employment declines.

1.India is facing a fresh water crisis. India has just 4% of the world’s fresh water — but 16% of the global population.

2.Half of India’s water supply in rural areas, where 70% of the country’s population lives, is routinely contaminated with toxic bacteria.

3.Every year, about 600,000 Indian children die of diarrhea or pneumonia, often caused by toxic water or poor hygiene.

4.Lack of clean water has even gone beyond affecting the health of Indians.

5.Employment in manufacturing in India has declined in recent years and a prime reason is that companies face difficulties getting clean water.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Clean water is good in the UK, so tell me WTF is holding back UK Govt from getting rural (Tory voting!) areas being connected to fiber broadband?

      It would certainly help tourism.

30-40 miles away from Bham got very nice, awesome looking places with fook all connectivity - 2G if you lucky FFS.

              When they have enough toilets.

India built 110M toilets. But will people use them? - CNN

People use a toilet if they can access one.

                  Correct:
