How to hit the 100,000 mark

It's like when the first NHS England surgery waiting time targets came in (mid-'90s?) and on the last day of the month they would wheel a few patients into the Theatre suite before midnight because that counted.Comment

Having not been present when the 100k was very first mentioned, I have a suspicion that it was initially said to shut up a journalist who, like many on this forum, demand absolute numbers and certainty and essentially wanted a nice sturdy noose to hang someone from.
They got that noose with bells on and they are now very much enjoying their public hanging because they backed the government into a corner. Well aren't they Billy Big Bollocks. Did that tactic improve anything? Has it taken resources away from other areas to fulfill this target that should never have been demanded nor set?
Testing should be happening and no-one denies that. However it should be targeted and controlled but the foamy mouthed braying masses want more, they always want more. They expect a magic tree of money, tests, beds, kit, jobs, etc etc etc all available instantly, on demand when they say they want it because they know better than anyone else.

You're lucky more intelligent people questioned the government approach back in mid-March or we'd be in a much worse place than we are now.
And if they hadn't been such useless coonts in the 1st place we'd be thinking now of easing off rather than having to wait another 3 weeks.Hard Brexit now!
