Thread for angry people to post about nazis/farage/extremism/racist
Pretty much. Most British people thought of WW2 as a war against fascism, and Mosley's internment met with little opposition. After the war, he attempted to revive his party - soon renamed the Union Movement - with little success, and he left the country in 1951. Eight years later, in the wake of race riots in Notting Hill, he stood for election in Kensington North on an anti-immigration platform, but failed to break through. After failing again in the 1966 general election, also in a London constituency, he retired to France. He died in 1980.So, does he have any relevance today? Other than appearing in Peaky Blinders? Dorril thinks Mosley would have welcomed the recent surge in populism, but he wouldn't have approved of Brexit: "He would have been appalled about Britain leaving Europe," he says. After WW2, Mosley began promoting the idea of "Europe, a nation".
so he was a remainer as well
He achieved some limited success, for a time. At one point the BUF claimed 50,000 members. The Daily Mail's owner, Viscount Rothermere, notoriously wrote a 1934 article headlined "Hurrah for the blackshirts!" The BUF also got a handful of councillors elected.
so a bit short of the 0.9 Million who voted for the NAZI party in 1924.
At the end of 1928, Nazi party membership was recorded at 130,000.
and well short of
Hitler's party gained a victory in the Reichstag, obtaining 107 seats (18.3%, 6,409,600 votes) in the September 1930 federal election.
So even in his lifetime Mosley was roundly rejected (compared to Hitler) when he turned to fascism despite previously being a successful Tory & Labour MP.
You are wrong as usual.
Yes I know Hitler was locked up but only for his part in the Beer hall putsch not his views.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Are you saying that Farage's extremism is more tolerable to you than Mosley? The Youth would be proud of you, how you've kept the faith after losing WWII to the Allies.

OK so you are changing the subject so do I assume you lost?
Hmm do please detail "Farage's extremism" as neither the Police, Electoral commission or his opponents have managed to produce any actual proof. Though it does seem some people & organisations love to slander & libel him.
He campaigned to leave the EU because it had mutated from a common market to a federal Europe, the majority of voters agreed with him. He suggested that unplanned, uncontrolled low skilled migration was a bad idea which has been proven to be true.
As above the BBC believe Mosley was a remainer, as was Hitler he was all for a united Europe under Germany just like the Kaiser & his advisers wanted under the September Program.
German Chancellor Theobald von Bethmann-Hollweg sketched out some possible ideas --dubbed by historians the "September Program." It emphasized economic gains, turning all of Central and Western Europe into a common market controlled by and for the benefit of Germany Belgium would become a vassal state, there would be a series of naval bases threatening England, Germany would seize much of Eastern Europe from Russia – as in fact it did in early 1918. There would be a crippling financial indemnity on France making it economically dependent on Germany. The Netherlands would become a dependent satellite, and British commerce would be excluded. Germany would rebuild a colonial empire in Africa.
The UK rejected this expansionism twice with force something that was a true sacrifice yet you idiots seem to want to equate the UK with a country that repeatedly fell to war mongering, racism & fascism. It may well have fixed itself now but it does have form.

You have your timeframes muddled up if you believe that Mosley could be a remainer. Presumably you think that every politician who supported the UK joining the EEC was a remainer.
Let's remind ourselves where your favourite newspaper stood on Moseley and Hitler.

“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”
