Sister-out-law has to sack 60 staff tomorrow. She is devestated.

Indeed. She is the manager - not the owner - so has no choice. Some situations at the moment make me feel the world is ending. But in 3 months time it will look very different. I keep telling myself that.

You need to read the contracts. Some nurseries will expect payment for private places during closures, others won't.

The government seems to be saying government-funded places will still get paid to the nurseries, they haven't clarified on private places. If they they cover them, much easier for the parents but who knows.

I do not think that is true, is it?

            I don't think she does.
She definitely doesn't have to sack them tomorrow before the government expand on what measures are in place. That is a very bad decision.

She could put everyone on furlough while waiting a week. School places are funded termly too so she can quite reasonably count on income until Easter.

Rushing to sack everyone is just another panic.
