Lib Dems promise to review IR35

True. but so far the other parties are not even considering anything around IR35 at all.Слава Україні! Героям слава! -
I didn't say it was easy. You can change how you work or what you deliver to clients. You can change how you find work. You can challenge "deeming everyone" on the basis that the law says there have to be individual assessments. You can agree to be inside IR35 but look for a rate rise of 25-30% to recover your losses. And on and on...Originally posted by DealorNoDeal View PostNot easy if you work for banks, or other large companies, which adopt a policy of deeming everyone inside.
It's already a mess. The least contractors can aim for is to make it hard for clients to say "inside or permie" and easier - and a hell of a lot cheaper - to persuade them to look at putting people outside.Blog? What blog...?

Nonsense. They've read IPSE's publicity about 5 million freelance workers, which equates to 5 million voters, and are offering bribes. No way will they actually repeal IR35, even if they were anywhere close to being able to.Originally posted by Rebel View PostSeems like the only party that is interested at looking at this.Blog? Vote Tory to register your approval of their direction of travel towards contractors. Don’t bother using your vote elsewhere to try to influence their position.Originally posted by malvolio View PostNonsense. Under no circumstances whatsoever vote for a party that might consider reviewing it.

You have some good advice overall for contractors to get themselves into positions that avoid IR 35. However, you seem to have a curious blind spot when it comes to the politics behind it and while you’re willing to explore negotiating the rules themselves, you’re unwilling to explore changing the people that make those rules.Originally posted by malvolio View PostThat's not my advice. What you’re saying, today, is for people to continue voting for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.Comment
