My last contract I would get up any time from 6am to 8am.

I worked on the basis that if I didn't have meetings I wouldn't be there for a set time. Sometimes I would even work from home first and then go in for just after lunch. Hard to do if you are closely superivised - I wasn't - but it does help to prove that you are IBOYOA.

Best was when the customer's site was the other side of the road from where I was staying
Sleep in until early afternoon, phone call.. "hi! sorry not at my desk right now, call you back in 10!" quick shower, dash across the road...longest bit was waiting for the lights to change at the crossing
(in my defence, support role...customer didn't like us onsite much cuz they thought we were 'up to something' so not being there was good for the client...honest.. )

So it's pretty much all day-shift then? Everyone like it like that?

Prob my highest level of productivity was going in late afternoon, 3pmish, finishing off 3amish
Just moved into a shared house then, didn't meet half the people for about a month

I am single plus I plan to relocate closer to the gigs as they arise. Initially i hought this would be a disadvantage - having to rent a different place all the time , but from what i read here , if a "normal" work travel is approx. 1.30 h. then relocating is quite an alternative. Traveling over an hour to work is not feasiblle.

Long travel can be offset by studying on the train. Especially if u get a constant GPRS internet connection on the train....
