I have bought property at auction a few times. The price guide is usually munch lower than a realistic figure because it attracts bidders; it can also be lower than the reserve price.Originally posted by AtW View PostAbout to bid for property which has got Guide Price on it (it's not an auction though).
Let's say price is 100%, what would be decent bid that won't piss off seller?
If you buy in the winter on a rainy day, sometimes less people will turn up and you can fetch a bargain.
You need to do your homework to work out you maximum price. Beware of faults in the building."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

It wasn't auction, normal listing just with words "Guide Price" of X.
P.S. Stamp duty these days is total piss take.Comment
