I reckon the one and only reason they say they're supposely ending austerity (as if there ever was much if any!) is to dangle the threat of reinstating it in the event of a no deal Brexit.
Combine that with a second referendum that includes a remain option, and quite a few stupid gullible sheep voters, even some Brexiters, might be swayed to vote Remain.
