Yes, because they lied to scare people, one of the main ones being that the only way Scotland could stay in the EU was to vote no. That didn't work out too well.

This lie caused most of the EU citizens living in Scotland to vote no as they were told they would be kicked out on Independence Day. There were approximately 150,000 EU citizens at the time. If they all change to yes voters now to keep their EU status in an independent Scotland then that is enough to tip the balance. Also, polls show that younger people are roughly 80/20 in favour of independence so every year more of those voters are available to yes whereas the older voters who voted no are dying off. 16 & 17 year olds are allowed to vote in the independence referendum.
