If you are in IR35 you are doing a reasonable thing. It doesn't take too many gaps between contracts to eat into your annual income.

The gaps are called holidays, resting and doing feck all. I look forward to them knowing I'm hardly ever working but earning more than a permie.

You only quit contracting when:

a. You've made enough to retire and hang up the keyboard

or

b. You're now so tulip the only place for you is as a permie scrum master or manager

Seriously though, an outside IR35 contract at £420 per day will take home nearly 2x that permie job. Can't see on any level that it's a smart move unless you really don't care about money, in which case why be an IT contractor in the first place?
