    mmmm

I had a very similar story setting my business account with Natwest, in fact, probably worse. The only reason I didn't move is because I was scared of going through the same tulipe with a another bank.
    • Sent all details to an address I lived at 15 years ago when I was a child!
    • Lost 3 application forms for credit card
    • Failed to set up internet banking for 3 months
    • Eventually internet banking guys claim they can't set up internet banking as there is no signatory record on my account!
    • WTF? No signatory record on my account?! Yet I had been writing and clearing checks for 4 months!!! Anyone could have emptied my account.
    • Incorrect charging in intitial months.

It too 6 MONTHS to get my account up and running.

      Cater Allen Private Bank.

Setup account start to finish in a week.

      Never any cock-up.

Free and pays interest on your balance that puts most high street rates to shame.

      WHY PUT UP WITH tulipE??????

Not to mention they are available by phone 24/7 using UK call centres with staff who actually know what they are doing and don't have to read a script to have a conversation with you.

I think the longest I ever had to wait for the phone to be picked up by an adviser (human) at CA was about 4 rings. I used to be with Investec, but they seem to have gotten worse .

I've used Cater Allen for six years and never had a problem. Account up and running in days and telephone staff excellent.

              I know I know

I have all my other banking with Natwest and was silly enough to try and open a business account. Was told it would be 24 hours, papers posted last Wednesday from my accountant to them, as of Friday pm, still haven't arrived. And am now told they will take four days to open the account (obviously because keying in a few details is very difficult).

              What fun.

Doesn't it pay interest only on balances over 5000? (cue a-holes jumping in to say call yourself a contractor when you don't have 5k to spare).

UK phone number? Does it work from abroad (some don't). Costly from abroad?

Sign up through PCG and they wave the £5k limit, not sure but I think SJD can do the same deal but I may be misremembering.

0800 number in the UK, they have a dedicated number for over seas calls. Not sure about costs for it, depends on the local phone charges I guess.
