Mental health covers alot of things. From people who get SAD. To people with a huge weight of personal problems. To those with disorders. Autism, bi-polar, etc.

I have been very honest about my own mental health issues on these boards. However I am saying less and less. When I get so many frequent attacks, what is the point.

EO had the right idea. A great loss to the forums. Incredibly witty - especially Friday stories. Which were then used against him by the trolls.

I want to hang round to help people in the Scheme Enquiries sub-forum. Not sure how long I can last.....

I wonder how many doctors are bypassing the NHS because they are seeing the riches that private practices offers? I suppose it's a vicious circle where those left behind finally get fed up and move private for some or all of their time, meaning more people take up private healthcare meaning there is even more demand.

I would support free higher education for Doctors and Nurses if they committed to working solely for the NHS for a decent period of time - say 10 years.

Most GP's have an online patient access system where you can see Dr availability and book the appointment most suitable. You can see your prescription/inoculation history and make repeat prescription requests too, all without talking to a dragon on reception The only issue is the Dr you want is normally unavailable for 3 weeks but there's always some Dr with an appointment today or tomorrow.

If you've a long term issue such as heart trouble there are also specialist nurses that'll see you direct bypassing the local Dr and providing a much better service. Stuff like bloods and first aid can normally be sorted immediately at a cottage hospital if you have one near. My local Dr needs an appointment for bloods and it takes a week for the results but the local cottage hospital, in Ripon, does it immediately without appointment and results in 24 hours if you have the relevant form filled out

Surgeries employ specially bred dragons designed to protect the Dr's from dealing with patients I once got some iron filings in my eye and spent an hour on the phone convincing a dragon that I needed an appointment now and that it wasn't plain old conjunctivitis

I don't think the main motivation to become a Dr is money, these people aren't IT contractors they have morals and purpose

Maybe not, but if you can get more money for a lot less stress I can't imagine many doctors not making the jump in the end

I want my children to go into the medical profession. People will not get less unwell. And its the best way of being able to leave the UK.

To answer the original question, I haven't got private health insurance.

I'm recovering very well from the recent double coronary artery bypass grafts I received as an urgent NHS patient in one of the best cardio-thoracic surgery units in the world, thanks
