An ex-Welsh Labour minister who faced a party investigation into allegations about his personal conduct has taken his own life, BBC Wales understands.

Carl Sargeant had lost his ministerial job as cabinet secretary for communities and children last week.

A family statement said his relatives were "devastated beyond words" at the loss of "the glue that bound us together".

Cripes. It's not massively suprising. Many of the revelations have been in the manner of a witch hunt with little evidence presented other than hearsay. People are found guilty and hauled over the coals before anything has been verified.

It's simple - if you have a grievance you have a finite amount of time in which to report it.
