Well there was a crippled gypsy child, whom I beat savagely with her own crutch. Don't remember any nuns though, probably need to ask MF, he would have been there and seen everything. His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain... -
Gosh someone else who has bought the Da Vinci code!!Originally posted by Cowboy BobRubbish. The New Testament is a collection of works cherry picked from ancient Aramaic scrolls. We have some of the originals which were not included that were found at Nag Hammadi. We also have the Dead Sea Scrolls, also in Aramaic. These are much more contemporaneous than the Greek scrolls which were deliberately changed for political reasons by the cronies of Emporer Constantine at the Council of Nicea (hence why Mary is portayed as a whore when according to the Dead Sea Scrolls - in the Gospel of Thomas and other books - she was actually one of the disciples, and possibly Jesus' wife).
I may not be a Christian, but I know my Christian history. The thing is that believers often either pervert the real history in favour of their own faith or just deliberately ignore it as it's not "convenient".

I'm talking about reading real history books on the subject, by real historians and theologians, not some crappy novel. Obviously you haven't read around the subject because you have the Bible and you believe every word in it is the truth so there is no need
I have read books by authors on both sides of the debate - "Who Moved The Stone" by Frank Morison (pro-Christian) to "God Kings of Europe" by Hugh Montgomery (espouses that the Davidic line of kings ended up in Europe during the middle ages) with all kinds of books in-between. I'm quite highly read around the subject as it's a real interest of mine, yet all I see from you is blind faith and a complete lack of understanding of the history around your own religion. Your church leaders should be ashamed of you...Comment

Why might it be perceived as an insult? As to your question about masonry why don't you educate us?Originally posted by ChurchillGood day to you too. Was that supposed to be an insult?

Eh - the Da Vinci code, pile of tulipe that it is, isn't exactly original, and the bible is cherry picked, over time.Originally posted by ChicoGosh someone else who has bought the Da Vinci code!!

From the Catholic Encylopedia:
There's plenty of books that didn't make it (Some that made it into the coptic church or the etheopian for example but not the catholic and subsequent etc)."The idea of a complete and clear-cut canon of the New Testament existing from the beginning, that is from Apostolic times, has no foundation in history. The Canon of the New Testament, like that of the Old, is the result of a development, of a process at once stimulated by disputes with doubters, both within and without the Church, and retarded by certain obscurities and natural hesitations, and which did not reach its final term until the dogmatic definition of the Tridentine Council [Council of Trent]."Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith

So after reading all these books, your conclusion is that the New Testament was not written in Greek? Ok to each their own. Reminds of a conversation I had with a Jehovah's Witness who came knocking on my door a few weeks ago. He too claimed that he was a scholar (particularly in Hebrew and the Bible). He surmised by saying Jesus never claimed to be divine. I just shut the door on him. So much for his studying.Originally posted by Cowboy BobOh please, is that your best refutation?
