Work with a few friends and family. Give each a month of the year, you take a couple. In each month that person arranges an experience. A meal out with friends somewhere nice one month, spa another, theater another, weekend away and so on. Celebrate the birthday at each. Put it together in a little book and give her that as a present. That way she has something nice to look forward to every month for the next year. She's pampered for the whole year rather than just a day or a weekend. The thought and effort will be much appreciated as will being the center of attention at each do she goes to. Like 12 mini parties.... If you don't get your oats regularly over the rest of year I'll be a blue arsed baboon.
This is all purely hypothetical of course.

You know you can do online courses in biology so you don't make ignorant comments like that.

It's not sexist some children and men prefer experiences rather than physical items. There is only so much tulip people want.

You are right! I was thinking the connection about her being a woman and wanting to be pampered and make a fuss of made me out to be a sexist pig. Thank goodness for that. You can come clean my house and cook my tea as a reward helping me out of that situations SE.

buying flowers is more of an experience thing though. They're not a thing as they only last a few days. And if Mrs. L. buys her own she's far less happy than if I buy them, even though it's my (her) money either way.

Can you send her into the petrol station with the cash, or does that not count?
