Can't find website files

Evening All,

plan be bought another company and I am trying to get all the website files of the new company.

Problem is, in my ftp tool I cannot see most of their files.

Eg,

If I do HTTPWatch on their landing page I can see all the directories where the files are

EG, there's a file www.newplanbcompany.com/css/mainpage

If I logon with the FTP client, I cannot see this css directory


Any idea why that is, why my FTP tool cannot see all of the directories of the web domain ?

Chances are they aren't hidden at all.

If you're FTPing in at the top level of the domain, there could (should) be a load of directories there for scripts, logs etc.

There should be a folder with a name like Public HTML or some such, or www or something. All your public browser reachable files will be there.

The path component of a URL doesn't have to have anything to do with the directory structure on disk. Things can be in a different place on the disk, or on different disks, or not on a disk at all as they're automagically generated on demand, or on a dozen different disks in different data centres around the world so people get a copy from a place that's near to them (in terms of the route across the Internet between them and the file). The web server(s) and maybe even the DNS system then work together to make it seem as if everything comes from the same place

Talking to their tech people would probably be your best bet

I was going to post that you just need to FTP in and then Ctrl A then Ctrl D but the chance is there that he might actually do it. Get back to the veg farmer Benes!
