Talking of inflammatory speeches, didn't someone else also try to educate the rest of Europe and attempt to create a "European Club" in the late 1930's? That didn't end too well.

Yes, he was all for banning foreigners and particular religions so that only the white middle classes would benefit. He wasn't interested in working with other people and convinced his followers that helping others was wrong.

All he had to do was convince a majority of his nation that foreigners were evil and to be feared/persecuted, then feed them propaganda that they would just accept without question.

And when British, Americans, Indians, Christians, Muslims, Blacks and Whites fought and defeated him, it was in a hope that people would live and work together in peace.
Perhaps the armies of the WWII fought in vain, because the propaganda machines are convincing people once again that blame, fear and hatred are the better option rather than working together.

The fundamental point is that we do not see the need for a centralised european parliament.

Whether we like it or not - that sort of body will always grow as it will contain people whose sole interest is in maintaining their power base.

Even not being part of the EU still means that Britain will have to do what the EU tells it to do. If Britain wants to export goods to the EU then they have to follow EU standards, like every other country that wants to trade with the EU

Nobody is suggesting we start producing chlorine washed chicken and trying to export it into the EU.

But what we can start doing is trading with the rest of the world and deciding on the rules between ourselves and our trading partners.

If we want to buy bananas from Brazil with a minimum curve radius of 15cm instead of the EU minumum of 25cm, we can do.
