    Democracy in action

Brexit bill to cause constitutional clash with Scotland and Wales

A few voters in Scotland crush millions of snowflake Brexiters and their repeal bill.

Well this is going to be a boring year. The government that gets nothing done as we limp our way to a hard Brexit.

Theresa May appeared to be heading for an explosive constitutional clash over Brexit on Thursday, after the Scottish and Welsh governments said they could not support the great repeal bill – the key proposals drawn up to extricate Britain from the European Union.

The historic legislation, formally known as the European Union (withdrawal) bill, came under sustained attack after it was published on Thursday, with MPs and human rights campaigners, as well as leaders in Edinburgh and Cardiff, dismissing it as a Westminster power grab.

Just hours after the government published the 66-page bill that will repeal the European Communities Act of 1972, and bring decades of EU law on to the UK statute book, the Scottish and Welsh leaders, Nicola Sturgeon and Carwyn Jones, rejected it.

No, no, no. It's anti-democratic because it's thwarting the will of the people™.

So the Government puts forward the notion of cutting and pasting EU regulations onto OUR statute books, and the zealots that are mad keen on staying under the yoke of the EU profess it to be undemocratic.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

What Sturgeon and her Welsh counterpart need to remember is that they are still, through their own democratic choice, members of the UK.
As such they are bound by the same rules and regulations as everyone else.

That is all that needs to be said.

NI, Scotland and Wales are indeed part of the UK; however, they are not colonies. They are Jointly and severally for the UK and its governance. i.e. England cannot dominate any of the other countries. This is something that many MPs misunderstand.

Brexit will eventually cause the breakup of the UK; this is the reason why the likes of George Galloway are so pro Brexit. He believed that Brexit will decrease the influence of the UK as a global power especially diminishing the UK armed forces.

When we vote in a general election are we voting for the UK government or the English government?

Carwyn Jones does not speak for the people of North Wales. He is despised there.

What you need to remember is Sturgeon has a majority government, May doesn't. So there. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Sturgeon has a government in name only. May has a government with power.

I think London is going to have to remove these titles given to bits of the UK to shut them up. Or sell them to the highest bidder.

The sooner Scotland gets independence the better.

Her government couldn't vote through a change in wind direction without the assistance of Labour.
