I've been hearing about you can get a system where you need a PIN code to start the car?

Looking for some guidance here, as this is all new to me. Just spoken to Insurance Co and they are paying what finance company (car was on PCP) have requested, even get my deposit back, minus the excess. This is fine as I only had the car 2 months, didn't put on many miles and it was in pristine condition.
I said to chap but I am still without a car, as I part-exchanded my older one as part of this deal. He said he wasn't aware of this, he didn't have any details of this, but I have just emailed them to him. Should they pay me back what the dealership paid for my older car, approx 8K?
Or is that it, they are only liable to pay finance company, they are going to do that, not legally obliged to do any more?
Seen loads online that have been stolen but car has been recovered, still not found mine, doubt I ever will.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Oh Dear - I suspect that your old car was part of a contract with the Car Dealership you dealt with and so nothing to do with the leasing company.
The link may well be broken and you are indeed without a car.
I hope that's not the case.

Bummer.
Edit: it if turns out to be true I've found a serious flaw in part exing cars in a PCP deal then having one stolen.

Because you do not own the car until you pay the balloon payment at the end then you gave essentially 8k towards their car.
However I would argue (probably incorrectly) that they are bound by their contract to supply you with a car if you keep paying them.Comment
