Totally agree. I recall one story where all politicians had an explosive collar round their necks. If enough citizens registered disapproval their heads got blown off.

The two Captains Regent of San Marino act as joint heads of state for six months, and when their term ends, citizens have three days to make a complaint for what they have or haven't done, following which judicial proceedings may follow.
