    New Laptop

To celebrate my new role I'm looking to get a new laptop.

I think I've narrowed it down to the following:

Wondering if anybody has experience with either of them?

Is it worth shelling out the extra 500 for the first one?

    Cheers!

You know you can buy from Dell directly and modify the configuration to suit yourself?

(I'm currently posting on a Dell and working on a Dell)

      I personally wouldn't buy a Dell.

Looks like you're paying the extra for the colour and a 4K screen. If those things are important to you then it's worth it.

          Lenovo didn't want my money.

          Dell did.

          So I brought a Dell....

Worse laptop I've had has been HP.

How boring, do you do train spotting as well?
I celebrate by going to a Japanese massage and sauna.

Agreed. I'm a serial buyer of Lenovo X1 Carbons. Milspec, tough as old boots, small, best keyboard in the business. Not cheap but I've no complaints whatsoever- my last one is 5 years old and still going strong, replaced it with the latest model and gave the old one to the sprog as his first computer.
              Hard Brexit now!

Mines a ThinkPad W530, nearly 4 years old and still going very strong.
I spent around £3K on it at the time.

I much prefer my personal Dell Precision laptop to my client's Lenovo X1. The processor seems to scream everytime I open a complex excel sheet.

It's nice enough but the Dell XPS 15 (which is the consumer name for the precision laptop I have) is far nicer...

And as we are talking about buying a dell laptop - the outlet is far cheaper. Delivery is usually under a week...

I go for massage too.... But yes I'm living a very boring life at the moment. I'm pretty much working about 15 hours a day and about 10 hours on weekends. I'm just trying to shift this Plan B so I can buy a Japanese Sauna and have the therapist on standby 24 hours a day.
