    Isn't it negotiable? The only time this happened to me was in the US and I ended up getting 20% more than their initial offer after evidencing (carefully selected ) equivalent examples on the market.

              That's what I thought. It hasn't happened to me in the UK, as I mentioned, but I ended up with a lot more than the initial offer when this happened to me in the US.

                Time to put an ad on autotrader using pre-curbed photos, asking for the value you think it's worth.
                Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

                  Done it during phone call, they would not offer a quid more - they said it's higher than Glasses recommended value because of relatively low miles on car and very good condition...

                  To be fair it's not far off £27-28k range, so close enough, so agreed.

                  At least now I know the claim total, so can get quote for a new motor...
