Might be OK with some new panels, and they can bend a whole car frame back straight on a large jig.Originally posted by AtW View Post
I loved that car
But it's mostly the labour costs these days that determine whether a car is a write-off.
Also, that oil leak looks ominous, as if some expensive engine part copped it.

I would put my money on the insurers sending it down to Nationwide Accident Repairs, the car being stuck on a jig & some new panels being ordered in & a lick of paint. I would fight this tooth & nail.
The oil means nothing. It could be pipe or a totaled engine. Who knows until it is on a lift. I believe that will determine whether it is a write off or not, not bodywork.
I did something similar to a similar vintage S-Class. Mercedes quoted 24k to fix, insurance invoiced 4.3k by Nationwide.Comment

Some of it was reincarnated as a Polish washing machine. The rest of it wasn't even fit to scrap.Originally posted by OwlHoot View PostSo AtW, what happened about your jam jar eventually?
