You don't think that might have a basis in a surplus of available labour?
If that were true the UK would not be crying out for 20,000+ engineers + scientists on a daily basis. The sector is chronically under-reserouced. Agents have the audacity (every other week they call) to expect me to be excited with a £40k salary. They're living in a different galaxy.

oh look the wages are going up.
Industry failed to train and underpaid people is it any wonder they can't get any. I would imagine most of us were earning that decades ago.
