But all the permies left to be contractors, so there are no permies.First Law of Contracting: Only the strong survive -
They'll have a Press Gang waiting outside the next CUK Christmas do, coshing people as they leave and hauling them off to permiedom in the Civil ServiceOriginally posted by d000hg View PostShirley HMRC had to do this, otherwise they'd be accused of hypocrisy. They'll just hire more permies which is probably how the public sector should operate. The high levels of contractors they use is worrying really... bad organisation. Contractors should fill the gaps, not be the bulk of your workforce.

HMRC likely started it first by making redundant their older more expensive workers. Of course they will, and they'll end up with a giant clustershag. And nobody will be willing to help dig them out of it. A scenario which will of course be widely repeated across the public sector. What's the betting they blame brexit...Originally posted by woohoo View PostWon't they just use this as an excuse to get in a consultancy firm and hire a load of Indians?
