I reckon most of the time it is just a self-indulgent affectation, like vegetarianism, to make the "sufferers" feel different and special.

So yes, they should damned well pay for their (probably futile and unnecessary) diets and medicines.
they would died from unexplained causes or suffer for years in pain with no explanation.

I suspect that there is a little survival of the unfittest where those with allergies who would have died now breed. I suspect new & exciting human traits will result. Maybe being allergic to peanuts will increase the likelihood of being disease resistant in another way?

but the allergies are most definitely real.

Humans have screwed about with the food chain and we wonder why there are adverse reactions! Grain-feeding of cattle is achieved by pumping them with drugs so that they can eat grain rather than their natural diet of grass. Then people wonder why too much processed red meat can cause problems. We're reaping what we sow.

Pharmacists are relevant as if you pay for your prescriptions they check whether the medication is not POM and see if you can buy it cheaper off prescription in the quantity you need.

Pharmacists are not relevant, the problem is that we are prescribing aspirin when its not economic to do so. Just don't prescribe then its done.

Slight difference; pharmacists are currently relevant, but shouldn't be.

And to be precise, gluten free prescribing is for coeliac disease, which is not an allergy.

indeed. I'm on your side in this case.

You aren't asking for a prescription to save 16p.

Pharmacists should be relevant as they offer professional advice on medication management, contraindication etc., and offer this for free for over the counter meds bought in pharmacies.

It's more 'Team Moron', with one driving and one navigating towards the point on the map showing a cliff edge with 'Narnia' scrawled over the top in crayon.
